Chris Miller focuses his practice on civil and criminal litigation. Chris
resides in Columbia with his wife, Melissa, and son, Miles.
Prior to joining Holder Susan Slusher as "of counsel," he worked
in the public-sector and represented both the Missouri Department of Social
Services and Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Through
those experiences, Chris has gained trial and administrative hearing experience
on matters including child abuse/neglect issues, parental rights and custody
disputes, and unemployment benefit and tax appeals. Additionally, Chris
successfully represented the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations before the Missouri Supreme Court in
Gateway Taxi Management v. Division of Employment Security, 461 S.W.3d 830 (Mo. bank 2015).
Chris has also served the Department of Social Services and Department
of Labor and Industrial Relations in various administrative roles. In
2015, he started with the Family Support Division as the Deputy Division
Director assisting in management of programs such as Medicaid, Child Support,
and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Subsequently, Governor Nixon
appointed Chris to serve as the Director of the Division of Employment
Security, the state agency that administers Missouri's unemployment
